Supermodel Kate Moss Uses Hypnotherapy to Quit Smoking

by Raggi on April 21, 2011

Supermodel Kate Moss was never shy about her smoking habit. In fact, if you were to do a Google image search of “Kate Moss smoking,” you’d find 731,000 results! Yet, times are different and Kate has a strong desire to kick her habit. Why stop now, you ask? The 37-year-old is trying for a baby with fiancé Jamie Hince. Even though she smoked through her last pregnancy, doctors told her she may have trouble conceiving unless she quits. Now, Kate is “desperate to stop,” sources told the Sun. Both Moss and Hince started trying hypnotherapy as a stop smoking treatment and there’s been progress. Kate has dropped from 30 cigs a day down to 15 after just a few months of treatment.

Kate Moss isn’t the only celebrity who used hypnotherapy as a stop smoking treatment. Samuel L. Jackson, Ellen Degeneres, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have all successfully used hypnotherapy to stop smoking. Ben Affleck, who hasn’t had a cigarette since 2005, explained to Oprah, “You sit in a chair and the hypnotist sips water and just talks to you for an hour, and explains how nicotine is poison. All of a sudden, I thought, ‘This is asinine that I’ve been doing this to myself for all these years!’”

In my practice, hypnosis as a stop smoking treatment is one of the most popular reasons for people to seek my help. We tend to think of smoking as the result of a nicotine addiction, which it is – but only for the first few weeks after quitting. Once the nicotine cravings die down, it’s a mental battle from there-on-out. I often use hypnosis to help alleviate stress and give my patients new tools for coping. As you can imagine, this helps so much when you’re used to lighting a cigarette to take the edge off. Even if you feel all is hopeless, call me at 07970 926 645 to see how my services can enable you to overcome obstacles and reach your goals! I’m located in London in the SW19 area.
